E.ON UK
E.ON UK is a subsidiary of the German utility giant E.ON who operates in the UK. It was formed after the acquisition of Powergen plc by E.ON AG in 2002.
The Challenge
During the time of the acquisition Powergen were undertaking a major re-branding exercise. Even though they were keeping the Powergen brand many parts of the business were being changed over to E.ON. This had an effect on various roles within the company and recruitment quickly became a high priority. It was important to build a talent pool of home grown candidates and running a successful graduate recruitment scheme was pivotal to this plan.
The Solution
We had worked with Powergen on smaller projects in previous years and were chosen to manage this larger scheme based on our previous experience and success with similar projects. We were also asked to work with a graduate recruitment company called Best Graduates. Best Graduates provide Response Handling, Assessment Centres, Interviewing etc. Eploy® would be used to power the corporate recruitment solution and as a central point for managing the entire recruitment process, data storage and for feedback from the various parties.
The timescale for this project was very short due to the recent acquisition and urgent requirement to recruit new talent but the eploy® development team managed to prioritise the work load to ensure the delivery times were met.
It was also decided mid way through the implementation that E.ON would require 3 separate recruitment systems, one for each of the main areas of recruitment within the company. Due to the flexible nature of eploy® this was achieved. This meant that each system could progress at its own pace with no constraints on the implementation. However, all reports and applicant tracking could seamlessly work across all three systems. Line managers were also granted access to the system and able to view summary reports and provide feedback on short listed candidates.
When the assessment centres were in progress, remote assessors were given access to specially designed web-forms to provide specific and structured feedback on each candidate. This information was tracked back to the custom work flow management system that had been setup within eploy®.
The Result
The E.On graduate recruitment scheme was a complete success as E.On easily reached their targets for the number of Graduates they recruited and managed to significantly cut recruitment costs and speed up the process. With the comprehensive reporting available within eploy® it was easy to track this success year on year.
